Oh, Mary! Chicago Theatre reviews
Agganis' sound sucks
"I went into this show with low expectations as it is a large venue. The results were worse than I expected. At Agganis, it felt like deerhunter didn't want to be there. I saw deerhunter play the Royale a few months back and it was amazing. The acoustics and sound production for their set were very poor. It was the live equivalent to watching a show on a smartphone. In this day and age, you would think that wouldn't matter, granted I was closer to the back. When I saw Neil Young at the TD Garden, the sound was perfect even though I was far from the stage. After deerhunter ended their short set, I hoped the sound would improve for the headlining act. It did a little, but was still a far cry from being worth a damn. Oh, Mary! also did not seem to care about playing. What a disappointing waste of time and money. To their credit though, the staff at Agganis were very friendly and helpful, and lines moved efficiently. I got the vibe this place is more about sporting events and music takes the backseat. It will take a lot to get me to go to a show here again. The way back seat."
